Netflix's Kingdom (The Medieval Resident Evil!)

Image
It seems that Netflix plans to capitalize off the Zombie craze or merely picking up the pieces that AMC's The Walking Dead has dropped. Not only has the venerable streaming network plans to produce and distribute as series based on Capcom's Resident Evil videogames but also Zac Snyder's upcoming Zombie thriller, Army of the Dead! Prior to these projects being in the works, there's this new South Korean miniseries titled, Kingdom based on Kingdom of the Gods, which includes what else, Zombies! Set within the medieval period of South Korea, this 6-part series centers around a power struggle within the royal Kingdom as the King of Joeson has fallen gravely ill as a means of a coup conducted by Lord Cho Hak-Ju. Despite being infected as a Zombie, the King is kept alive in the eyes of the public with the pretense that he's gone mad via illness and craves human flesh.   The sole purpose for not killing the king, is until the Cho's daughter, t

Resident Evil 2 REmake (My first impressions.)

Image
Y'know, there’s this rule of thumb regarding how the first sequels in cinema are usually superior than the preceding movie. When you look at the success of Godfather 2, Empire Strikes Back, This rule also applies to video games as in Capcom's Resident Evil 2, an amazing successor to the game that kickstarted the Subgenre known as "Survival horror”.  Resident Evil 2 was not only divided into a few storylines, but thanks to an ingenious approach to gameplay called the zapping system, where two different scenarios merge afterwards, this game was not only the best of the series, but one of the best games, period! Not too long ago, a few ambitious developers conjured up a new build of Resident Evil 2. The improvements upon the original was staggering most notably, the enhanced graphics. This caught nearly everyone's attention and yes, Capcom's as well.  The developers probably intended to work out some deal with the videogame giant, releasing

Zack Snyder returns from the dead (As in his post DCEU career) to direct another Zombie movie!

Image
Director, Zack Snyder ( Watchmen, Batman Vs Superman, 300, Man of Steel, Justice League, Sucker Punch, Wonder Woman ) is back after the shocking passing of his and wife Deborah Snyder's daughter, has singed on to produce a Zombie Horror action film for Netflix called Army of the Dead?? The concept is somewhat derivative as it bears similarities to other films and even videogames. AOTD takes place in Las Vegas, during , you guessed it-a zombie outbreak! In which a man assembles a group of mercenaries to venture into the quarantined zone to commit the boldest or perhaps the craziest heist ever attempted!!  Let's see..part  Dawn of the Dead, Overlord, The Outpost, Resident Evil Mercenaries, Call of the Dead Zombies,  etc? .  Netflix, has taken over the project from Warner Bros., where it was originally set up in 2007, will fully commit to this new project from the Snyder's Production company-Stone Quarry. Army of the Dead is scheduled to shoot  this

Bop is possessed by Netflix’s Diablero !

Image
Don’t you just love it when you stumble onto a TV show or movie you never heard about and it is good? You watch it and think :”Holy shit. This is awesome. How come I never heard of this and how come no one talks about it?” Netflix’s Diablero is one of those shows!  Diablero is a Mexican TV show. I never saw a Mexican TV show. If this show is an indication of the quality of Mexican TV shows I need to watch more of them. Unfortunately Mexican TV shows don’t get covered much so you don’t know what is out there and that is a shame. It is a fact that non-English shows offer a kind of different entertainment and most of that entertainment speaks to me. Elvis has entered the building! Diablero is about a Diablero. A Diablero is a demon hunter. Elvis Infante is such a Diablero in Mexico City.Elvis is a funny macho, but also a guy who knows his shit. At least, most of the times. He gets help from Nancy Gama, this cool chick who can summon demons to take over her body. T

The Bop Drop: Bop reviews Bitch Slap (2009)

Image
Orignally published on Talkbacker.com however, some sections have been updated. Welcome to another retro review. As always, I do these reviews in the hopes that I can introduce people to movies they might not have seen. Do I care about the acting in the movies, the plot or the script? Not really. I care about the entertainment factor. Can the movie entertain me?  If it can, of course! This time it’s 2009. Say hello to Bitch Slap! So who is in it? Julia Voth  (Trixie)               Erin Cummings (Hel) America Olivo (Camero) Michael Hurst is also featured in this action film that defines “Female empowerment”. So, what’s cool about Julia Voth? I don’t know, but I do know she is all woman. If you are a guy and you don’t know she is all woman shame on you. And what’s cool about Erin Cummings? I don’t know her either, but in the movie she is badass. And the America Olivo cool factor? Don’t know her either but she is easy on the eyes. Is Michael Hurst c

Five Resident Evil games worth playing, before the Resident Evil 2 Remake!

Image
Good news everyone! No, the Government Shutdown has not ended, (Thanks to the petulant Man child, Donald Trump and the stubborn Democrats!) at least for those that still have the luxury of plunking down a few shillings for videogames, Capcom's highly anticipated remake of the classic Resident Evil 2 game will arrive in stores and digi downloads today! But for those that need that extra RE fix or have yet to buy the remake, here are a few recommended picks of Resident Evil games available for current gen consoles and PC of course. These games can be bought on the cheap whether brick and mortar or digital stores. Let’s get to it! 5. Resident Evil 5 This is placed on the lower end for obvious reasons. Despite being a half-baked game with justified criticisms such as broken co-op, dumb a.i., questionable racist caricatures and of course, Chris punching a boulder, there is a bit of fun to be had with this successor to RE4 which both games place more emphasi

Punisher Season 2: Final Justice or "Punisheesh"?

Image
There has been growing speculation that the 2nd season of Marvel's Punisher, will be its curtain call. Now that i have watched the entire season throughout a span of four days, I can say, that if it is the last season, at least it wrapped up nicely, cathartically speaking.  However, the series was a bit of a bait and switch. What do I mean by that? Well it's simple, after a promising start in  episode 1 titled "Roadhouse Blues," the titular character is forced into a confrontation with a group of hitmen . When all else fails, Mr. P guns them down as easily as eating a ham n cheese sandwich.  Roll intro credits and now we are treated to a flashback episode that leads to the present. Frank Castle goes about rebuilding his life after bringing his former best friend, now mortal enemy Billy Russo to justice but after seeing the assassins pursue the with Amy Bendix, a 16 year old smart assed girl who serves as the series' maguffin. Castle bein

SHAZAM TRAILER.#2 Is it lightning in a bottle or just a spark? (My reaction)

Image
So, over the weekend, DCEU decided to drop yet another trailer of Captain Marvel er, I meant "SHAZAM"! From what I have seen so far, it looks promising and I like the fact that it pays homage to the underrated Man Of Steel regarding the aerial combat sequence and so forth. It's also self referential as it pokes fun of the dark side (pun intended) of the DC Universe. I'm sold thus far! Yeah, it's family friendly but after all the criticism from the previous nihilistic Zac Snyder films, I find this refreshing and hopefully this will put DCEU back on track and as a serious competitor against the MCU. As a fan of the OG Captain Marvel since childhood, I hope this movie succeeds. Fun Fact: Fawcett Publications were solely responsible for the creation of Captain Marvel, which gained so much popularity and sales to the extent of facing DC's ire as they threatened to sue their competitor on the basis of stealing Superman's concept. Fawcett agreed to the

Best of Sky & Ollie: 2016 A Crappy New Year!

Image
Originally published at the defunct Supernaughts site, but now unearthed for your consideration...and torment! Preface: Now that New Year’s came and went, let's harken back about say, three years ago when there were simpler times, when practically everyone was getting along until the big election of 2016!! And of course, a few haters who decided to piss on one's parade. 😉 Here’s a blast from da past, featuring you’re not so favorite felines, as they talk about the highs and lowdown dirty things during 2016! Sky: Ello, you sorry sods, this is your pal Sky with ya and on my left side is the always annoying and verbose Ollie. And as you can see "We are still here"....in 2016....at The Supernaughts! Ollie: A site that as Mr. Scott Colbert said, many had hoped it would it would fail and yet 2 years later, here we are! We even outlasted our original spot. Sky: Oh the one that rhymes with "Hawkcracker"? Ollie: Yes, that on
