Last week was filled with “Cool News” (pardon the pun.) and in case you missed out or just didn’t care for the recent headlines in popular culture, here’s a recap of the biggest news for the weekly! Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the most watched series on Disney + Great news for  Disney Plus, as their original series “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” from Marvel Studios, is ranked as the most watched series premiere ever on Disney’s streaming platform during its opening weekend, March 19, through March 22 – and not to mention, the most watched title overall for the same time period on a global scale beating out Wandavision and the season two premiere of “The Mandalorian” from Lucasfilm as the three most-watched Disney+ Original series opening weekends to-date. “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/The Falcon and Mark Hamill lookalike Sebastian Stan as James Bucky Barnes/ The Winter Soldier who “reassembled” together during the final moments of “Ave

Resident Evil @ 25!

My love for videogaming began in 1990 when my sister had bought me a Nintendo Entertainment System console but did not care for it until I discovered both Metal Gear and Super Contra. That's when my interest really took off after playing Ninja Gaiden, Snake's Revenge and of course, G.I. Joe. The 90s were the decade of the slacker and with gaming systems like Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Sega Saturn and PlayStation, I can see why many would be hooked on immersing experiences than say, look for a real job or go to College?!? But seriously, those were fun times when (cliché) things were much simpler. Anyway, it was around April 1996, when I got my hands on this hotly anticipated game called "Resident Evil " for the original PlayStation console. (PSX) Me being this avid horror enthusiast was piqued with interest when I first learned of this game and its premise.Inspired by George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead and a lesser-known film, "Sweet Home", Re

Falcon & The Winter Soldier ep.1 Review

Image
"Symbols are nothing without the men and women that give them meaning" So after nearly two years since its announcement and a few production setbacks, Disney’s Buddy Superhero spinoff Falcon and the Winter Soldier is finally here! This was the main reason why I subscribed to Disney plus in the first place! Yeah, there's also the other Marvel films and television series like the excellent Avengers Earths Mightiest Heroes, but I already have those on Blu Ray. Anyway, the premise and story take place following the events from Avengers Endgame where protagonists and former partners of Captain America, Sam Wilson aka Falcon and James "Bucky" Barnes try to resume a bit of normalcy after the "Snappening" caused by Thanos. This episode begins with Sam preparing for some committee hearing about making a particularly important decision, however his appointment is on hold, when he is summoned for a rescue op and this is where things take off, no pun intended. Rest In Power "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler!

We live in a time in which mediocrity is promoted as the greatest thing ever. Hacks, bitches, lotion boys and hoes get promoted as the greatest thing ever! Either they put a label on themselves, or the mainstream media does. The reality is that they all suck and any person with a scintilla of intelligence cannot seriously lionize let alone, consider them to be “great”!  That said, one guy who did not suck, was Marvelous Marvin Hagler. He earned and deserved the name “Marvelous”, because he marvelously beat the shit out of the other boxers, who were foolish enough to get in the ring with him. This no-nonsense boxer was there to fight and fighting he did. Before he became a professional, he had an amateur record of 55-1. His professional record became 67 fights, 62 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws. Of the 62 wins he won 52 by knockout. Hagler has the highest knockout percentage of all undisputed middleweight champions still to this day. He was world champ from 1980 until 1987 and I will get to

What a difference a Year makes!

Damn, I remember March 11th 2020 as if it were yesterday when the COVID-19 was officially announced as a nationwide pandemic despite then President Donald Trump dismissed it as a "Hoax by the Democrats "! When I was getting lunch at my job's Cafeteria, the food staff were advised to wear gloves while preparing and serving meals. Oh, and the patrons had to wear the disposable gloves as well. I heard someone next to me, saying "Shit just got real!" I thought the same thing to myself and later, my Supervisor had informed me that the company would continue operations from home until this outbreak is contained presumably for a week. I was told to leave the building and not return until this is smoothed over. Thus, began my "escape from New York ". While confined to our apartment, I witnessed how soon the world has changed all within a year, whether it was the constant press briefings, local news, social media and friends and family members! While the ignora

And here is my handpicked news for the Week of March 4th, 2021 where entertainment and sociopolitical commentary go hand in glove!  While last week's Golden Globes may have had a dismal rating, it made for entertaining news be it Sacha Baron's calling out the Hollywood foreign press, along with Rudy Giuliani, unexpected wins, embracing diversity and a few technical problems. That said, let's get to it! Dr. Seuss is on the Noose, thanks to the "Sinister Six"! Cancel Culture returns to claim yet another "victim" and this time, it's good ol Dr. Seuss whose previous books- "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street," "If I Ran the Zoo," "McElligot's Pool," "On Beyond Zebra!," "Scrambled Eggs Super!" and "The Cat's Quizzer." were full of  racist imagery and offensive stereotypes so finally, Dr. Seuss Enterprises  the business behind the now infamous late author's estate, has too
