Ninjak vs the Valiant Universe Movie: Who knew?!?

Image
For those who haven't had enough of the Valiant based movies, after Bloodshot, here's another film that includes the majority of the Valiant characters, one in particular is "Ninjak" who happens to be a personal favorite of mine. Ninjak vs the Valiant Universe was produced  as a  Webseries prior to Sony's Bloodshot. So, does it fare any better to the Vin Diesel movie? You be the judge!

Voice Actor of the original Resident Evil 2 game has died.

As if news of G.I.Joe packaging artist Hector Garrido's death wasn't sad enough, we have lost another talented contributor to Pop Culture. Mostly known for his voice over role as Leon S. Kennedy of Capcom's 1988 Dawn of the Dead inspired hit, Resident Evil 2 , actor Paul Haddad has passed away on April 11, 2020. He was only 56. Born in Birmingham, England, on May 20, 1963 of Iranian decent, Haddad performed in the Stratford Theater Festival in Stratford, Ontario for two years prior to establishing his career in voice acting. Other than playing the iconic role of Rookie cop turned Super-Agent Leon Kennedy, Haddad's other works include Quicksilver of the X-Men Animated series, The Adventures of Super Mario Bros, Adventures of Tintin, Rescue Heroes among a few other projects. Haddad was diagnosed with stage- three throat cancer. Despite having a tumor surgically removed, his vocal cords altered his voice. Haddad's last completed role wa

Ollie and The Cult of Idiocracy!

cult /kÉ™lt/ a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object. a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister. a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.                            "a cult of personality surrounding the leaders" When I think of Cults and how far shit can go beyond extremes, the first thing that often comes to mind, is the Guyana Massacre where a huge flock under the influence of Reverend Jim Jones, committed some suicide "protest" by drinking cyanide tainted Kool-aid. This is where the term "Drinking the Kool-aid " originated from. As there are many who would blindly follow the ideologies of an idiot to the extent of putting their lives in jeopardy. What's that old saying? "Fools suffer gladly"? Thr

Artist of the iconic G.I.Joe A Real American Hero packaging has died.

For all you fellow Gen Xers and fellow fans of the ARAH toyline out there, here's a bit of sad news. Hector Garrido, the artist who was responsible for the iconic artwork on those prolific G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero action figure packages, has passed away in his sleep at the age of 92. I could use Cobra Commander's helmet, right about now. Garrido, born in Argentina portfolio was not restricted to toyline box art, prior to G.I. Joe, Hector worked on various projects such as Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Remo Williams (The Destroyer) and an Astronaut painting for Time magazine in 1969. Hmm, is that where Hama and Hasbro got the inspiration of a certain Cobra Intelligence Officer from? A posthumous shoutout goes to Mr. Garrido for those amazing eye-opening paintings for the G.I. Joe series since 1982. It was his artwork for the figures' blister cards, that was responsible for Stalker and Snake Eyes being the first two figures I pur

Venom screenwriters will pen a script for Sony’s upcoming One Punch Man!

It looks as if Sony’s at it once again. After achieving success from both Spider-Man Far from Home and prior to that, Venom , it seems as if Sony Pictures is aiming for not one, ( Bloodshot of Valiant Comics) but yet another intellectual property license to further expand their “Sonyverse” catalog of films and this time, it’s One Punch Man who has gotten the greenlight for a live action adaptation. Writers, Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner of Venom and Jumanji fame, are committed to handling the scripting duties, while Avid and son Ari Arad will produce the Anime/Manga based film.  Created by Japanese artist called ONE(??) One Punch Man is a satirical Superhero series as the title character also known as Saitama, is capable of defeating Supervillains with just “one punch”, hence the name. The Manga went on to gain more notoriety thanks to a hugely successful Anime series and now it’s also a Playstation videogame, followed by Sony’s upcoming picture. Whenever tha

Disney plans to develop a female-centric Star Wars series for D+

Image
You heard it here first..well actually no, since this news has been making its rounds since yesterday! In more efforts to embrace diversity, the “House of the Mouse” has tapped Leslye Headland co-creator of Russian Doll , as the writer and showrunner for Disney Plus’ latest series set within the SWU as in “Star Wars Universe”. Aside from being an action thriller which may include martial arts with perhaps female protagonist(s) there were no further details at this moment. Other SWU projects include season two of the popular Mandalorian series as well as another Star Wars prequel based on Cassian Andor of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story . (Y'know, the best of the "Disnefied" Star Wars movies.)  There was mention of Ewan McGregor reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi, for a possible series but nothing has been official confirmed as fans as pre-production is concerned. So, is anyone excited for a female led Star Wars show? Eventually, Disney will work it

This-is-Dystopia! The Omega Man: "Creature of the Reel"

Image
Welcome back to This-is-Dystopia! An on-going series dedicated to my favorite dystopian films, which also foreshadowed past, present, and possibly future events that take place in real life as that saying goes; What is science fiction, is now science fact!! In this segment, I’ll focus on 1971's The Omega Man for say, "current events"? Loosely based on Richard Mattison's novel, I am Legend , Directed by Boris Sagal and starring "Moses" himself, Charlton Heston, Omega Man centers around Army Colonel and Scientist, Dr. Robert Neville who through immunity to a viral outbreak caused by Biological Warfare, is the last man standing! Omega Man doesn't waste any time when providing a "cause and effect"  backdrop for this post-apocalyptic setting as 15 minutes in we are treated to a flashback sequence detailing the impact that biological Warfare between Russia and China has caused upon civilization as we see people dying

Resident Evil 3 REview: Escape from Racoon City!

First off, I love the Resident Evil series since the original Playstation version back in 1996. Most of the games were pulse pounding thanks to the haunting setting, bizarre creatures, unraveling corporate conspiracies, sound effects, amazing soundtrack along with solving puzzles while dealing with supply management when faced with stressful situations. Thus, deserving of the catchphrase, "Survival Horror". Ever since 2002, Capcom has given its cash cow Resident Evil, the remake treatment starting with the first and still the scariest of the series. While REmake Evil was a bonified success for Nintendo's Gamecube, the publisher went forward with a different approach for future Resident Evil games that have abandoned its survival horror roots in exchange for over the shoulder action with plentiful ammunition and more bizarre monstrosities. This new implementation was even a much bigger success than the first remake. The gameplay mechanics car
