Why I Would Never Support Pro Slavery Film Like The Woman King

Image
When I first heard of this latest project featuring actress Viola Davis (Suicide Squad and Widows) the first thing that came to mind, is that the movie studios are attempting to capitalize off Marvel's Black Panther franchise combined with some Wonder Woman lore and aesthetics however, when learning about the film's concept, it was loosely based on a history, that I wasn't too aware of! Released by Sony pictures, The Woman King, was Directed Gina Prince Bythewood and Written by Maria Bello and Dana Stevens with a too good to be true historical action premise: During the 17th to 19th centuries, the Agojie, an all-female warrior unit were protectors of the West African kingdom of Dahomey. This movie was touted as an epic 300 or Braveheart film. However, as history informs us, is that the Dahomey  kingdom had conquered other African states and enslaved their citizens for sell in the Atlantic slave trade. As a matter of fact, it seems that most of the kingdom's wealth was d

PN's reactions from Marvel/Disney's latest Reveals and Trailer Drops.

There was an amount  of Phase Five news from D23's presentation one in particular,  was official plans for an upcoming Thunderbolts movie based on the comics where villains, antiheroes and heroes work together for US government oversight.  Kinda like DC's Suicide Squad.  Take it for what you will. The roster includes Julia Louis-Dreyfuss as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine  Wyatt Russell  John Walker slash US Agent, (Wyatt Russel of Falcon and the Winter Soldier)  The Ghost, ( Hannah John-Kamen)  ,Taskmaster played Olga Kurylenko  from 2020's Black Widow along with David Harbour's Red Guardian. Also, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes and Florence Pugh as Yelena, who is the field leader like Captain America was to the Avengers.   Opinion: Sounds ok, but I'm on the fence about this. Bucky or even Baron Zemo should have led the team or at least it should be a joint leadership between Yelena and Bucky, that would start an interesting dynamic. Natasha Romanoff would have been

When Pinhead Went Hollywood! Hellraiser III @ 30

Image
As of September 11th, 2022, the second sequel of Clive Barker's Hellraiser will reach its 30th anniversary! While many fans of the iconic franchise scoff at Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth, I liked it for its ambition sort of speak. Directed by Anthony Hickok, someone I never even heard of this sequel continues where Hellraiser 2: Hellbound, left off as when we last saw our spiky antagonist, Pinhead and the Lament Configuration confined to a pillar that was later moved from the Chenard Institute to an Antique shop. Enter privileged Club owner, and all-around asshole, J.P. Monroe who purchases it for "free?" Reporter Joey Summerskill (Played by Terri Farrell of Deep Space 9) is feeling disillusionment about her career, while doing mundane exposes, until her big break comes from a "Mystery box” with chains attached to one of Monroe's clubgoers, causing the unlucky bastard to explode within the Emergency room! So, combine the Puzzle Box, with Pinhead easily manipulating

Thor Love and Thunder? Despoiler Talk

Image
So, by now, most of you have already watched Thor's latest sequel, Love and Thunder especially since Disney Plus has this trial offer for $1.99 a month and from what I have seen, I'm not too impressed...actually, not impressed. The start of the prologue shows potential when Gorr along with his daughter "Love," who are the last of their dying race, Gorr pleads to their God Rapu, but as predictable, his prayers aren’t answered as Love dies. Devoid off all hope Gorr, is called by the Necrosword and is lead into Rapu's realm, the deity mocks Gorr after pleading for mercy and worse, strangles him that is until the sword enters Gorr's hand and rightfully so slays the ungrateful God. Then enters the Marvel Studios fanfare but in an 80's rock tone. So, are you still excited? Personally, I don't know if I should continue writing about this since Jan had already done a magnificent review . But since I suffered through the 119 minutes, I'm taking out my frust

Ollie's Litterbox: God Can No Longer Save The Queen

Image
So, heard any interesting news lately? Well, aside from that fat fuck Steve Bannon being hauled off to jail. I'm sure by now we all know that Britain's Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor has "exited the Castle" and well, before your self-righteous rubes and Clout chasing cretins come at me, allow Uncle Ollie to finish! Y'see, ever since "Liz" and Phillip held court since 1952, there have been nothing but scandals, pillaging of colonized countries and exploitation of the poor and disenfranchised. During her reign, there was the mistreatment of the Blacks from the horrific abuse of the Telais who were forced off their land and endured Slave laborers for the White settlers from 1865-1963 where thousands of Kenyans died under the grip of the British Empire. All for harvesting Black Tea, which Kenya is a major exporter of. Then there's the Tory scandal as well as the Windrush Generation. (Looook it uuuuup..!) followed by sexual exploitation of young A

Samaritan (2022) Review

Image
Superhero movies are still all the rage these days especially after Disney's unbeatable box office successes courtesy from their in-house Marvel properties, so now, to paraphrase Sam Wilson from Captain America: Civil War, "everybody's got a gimmick!" Directed by Julius Avery, and distributed via Amazon Prime Video, Samaritan is Sylvester Stallone's first and hopefully last, Superhero solo effort, that doesn't stick to landing when "leaping over tall buildings, single bound." The plot is semi straightforward that involves superhumans Samaritan and Nemesis who were twin brothers in a fictional Granite City. Finally, they Duke it out in the city's power plant, causing fires, with both apparently killed in an explosion caused by the skirmish. Samaritan is lionized thanks to his fans with rumors that he is still alive, one being thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary played by the actor Javon Walton who was previously in HBO’s Euphoria as the unstable Pre-teen
