Major Damage! Actor Jonathan Majors has been Arrested!

Image
So, I woke up this Sunday morning to hear about some unfortunate news and as always, bad news travels fast as social media has been bombarded with news that Creed III and Ant Man Quantumania actor Johnathon Majors has been arrested and charged with Domestic violence for harassing and allegedly "strangling" a 30-year-old woman who is reported as his live-in girlfriend. Police responded at around Saturday 11am to a 911 call inside an apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan. “The victim informed police she was assaulted,” a NYPD spokesperson said. “The officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident. The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.” If these accusations are 💯 accurate, then Mr. Majors can kiss his career goodbye. Again, this is very unfortunate news for several reasons, one that his Marvel based character Kang, was being used as a tentpole for Marvel/Disney's Pha

This-Is-Dystopia! The Purge: Anarchy (2014)

Image
One of the most batshit, yet amusing concepts in Horror films, goes to Blumhouse’s the Purge where the United States is ruled by a totalitarian government known as the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA), that legalizes all crimes without the intervention of authority i.e. Police, SAT, etc., as a means of having saved America’s  collapsing economy. On the surface, the Purge is initiated as a means of using aggression to contain crime yet underneath the legislation's layers, it's something more devious, to exterminate the poor especially when people of color are concerned.  "The Purge: Anarchy" is a 2014 American dystopian action thriller film directed and written by James DeMonaco. The film is the sequel to "The Purge" and follows a group of people who are stranded outside during the annual Purge, a 12-hour period where all crime, including murder, is legal in the United States. Nearly every indecent degenerate is anxious to paint the town red, from Ultra

Is 2005’s Resident Evil 4 Still Worth Playing in 2023?

Image
We are now less than a week before Capcom’s 4th Resident Evil Remake makes it’s highly anticipated release for current gen systems PS5 and Xbox Series S/X respectively. So as there are obvious comparisons between the original and the new shiny coat of paint version, does this make the OG RE4 now obsolete to your average gamer? In case some of you were living under a boulder prior to Chris Redfield punching, Resident Evil 5th installment (continuity wise) of the survival horror franchise developed and published by the guys who gave us Street Fighter. Resi 4 was first released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2005, and later for other platforms such as PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, and PC. It is still, widely regarded as one of the best entries in the Resident Evil series and has received critical acclaim for its gameplay mechanics, graphics, and storyline. The game follows the story of Leon S. Kennedy, a former police officer who is now a government agent. Leon is sent on a mission to rescue the

Lance Reddick 1962-2023

Image
Damn, as if there wasn’t enough bad news in the world, this came from out of nowhere! Lance Reddick of TV series, Fringe, The Wire and films like the popular John Wick franchise has died apparently of natural causes at the age of 60. Born on December 31, 1962, in Baltimore, Maryland. Prior to pursuing a career in acting, Reddick studied music and performed as a classical vocalist. He later earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Yale School of Drama. While most are familiar with his television roles such as "The Wire," as Cedric Daniels and  "Fringe," Reddick also appeared in "Bosch," and NBC’s "The Blacklist." But it was the HBO series OZ, where he made his debut, as the ill-fated Detective Johnny Basil imprisoned along with the other inmates who had disdain for the former Officer.  Reddick had recurring appearances in the Super assassin thriller "John Wick" franchise, where he played as Charon, the concierge at the Continental Ho

Kill The Irishman (2011) Review

Image
Directed by Jonathan Hensleigh, 2011’s "Kill the Irishman" is a biographical crime film that’s based on the true story of Danny Greene, an Irish-American mobster who rose to power in Cleveland, Ohio during the 1970s. The film features an impressive cast, including Ray Stevenson (Punisher War Zone, G.I. Joe Retaliation, and Rome) as Danny Greene, Vincent D'Onofrio as John Nardi, Val Kilmer as Joe Manditski, and Christopher Walken as Shondor Birns. The performances are all solid, not to mention Stevenson, who brings depth and complexity to his portrayal of the notorious mobster. The movie’s plot follows Danny Greene's rise to power in the Cleveland underworld, as he starts off as a disgruntled longshoremen on the Cleveland docks who eventually becomes involved in a power struggle between various criminal factions. “Irishman” is violent and intense, with plenty of shootouts, car chases, and explosions. However, the movie is also surprisingly nuanced and intelligent, as i

#Oscars So Wack

Image
Ok, another year, another night I fell asleep on last night's 95th Academy Awards telecast. 😴 As expected Asian Actress Michelle Yeoh, won for best Actress for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, however, I didn't expect the "quirky" science fiction movie to clean up at the Awards, and is the movie that damn good beating out major contenders, or could there be more to it? While I'm happy for Yeoh who I was a fan of hers during the Wushu martial arts years, I did not particularly care for the movie as the plot and scenarios were well, "everything everywhere all at once." It just didn't gel with me and personally,  I don't remember much of Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis' performance that earned her the win, how she beat out Angela Basset for her dynamic portrayal of Queen Romanda many of us if not most can tell that once again, Ms Basset was robbed of her win and what’s more insulting, is losing to an obnoxious ex druggie Actress who

Rock's Revenge!! Selective Outrage Review

Image
So, I watched Chris Rocks anticipated comedy stand up special on Netflix and there was a few funny topics that the Comedian tackled such as the Racist Yoga pants skit, attention whoring especially through Social media, and how the Capitol riots were compared to the Planet of the Apes. Basically, he practically referred to the Alt Right rioters as "Mayonnaise Monkeys. " While I admired how Rock called out "White Victim" or rather "White Fragility", the pandering joke towards Elon Musk as if he's the greatest genius of all time, with unlimited access to women, was filler material. This was one of the first signs of his standup act slowing down. But he picked up when calling out Meaghan Markle's narcissism, but it’s not just some "in-law shit" as Rock was a bit dismissive about the Royal's racism, however he walked it back when saying how the Royal Family is the "Sugarhill Gang of racism." I can say a few things about the Duche

Leiji Matsumoto’s Cultural Impact as the Godfather of modern Space opera!

Image
Legendary manga artist and anime creator Leiji Matsumoto has passed on, but his significant contributions to animation and especially the space opera genre will not be forgotten.  Matsumoto's work often deals with themes such as love, loss, and humanity's relationship with space, and his style is known for its epic and romantic tone. One of Matsumoto's most notable contributions to the space opera genre is his manga and anime series, "Space Battleship Yamato" (also known as "Star Blazers" in the United States). The series, which first aired in 1974, follows the crew of the Yamato, a spaceship on a mission to save Earth from an alien race. " Yamato" was a groundbreaking series that helped to popularize the space opera genre in Japan and around the world. There is evidence to suggest that the anime series "Space Battleship Yamato" had a significant influence on the creation of the "Star Wars" franchise. In particular, the des
