Ridley Scott gives his Seal of Approval for the new Alien Film!

Director Ridley Scott the filmmaker behind iconic sci fi hits like Alien and Blade Runner had plenty to say according to Director Fede Alvarez ( Of his sleeper hit, Don't Breathe and the Evil Dead remake) when  speaking with Guillermo del Toro at the DGA Latino Summit 2023, the director who recently completed the upcoming Alien: Romulus movie, invited Scott to a screening for the movie following post production.

Alvarez who was a bit intimidated by the outspoken Director and rightfully so. Alvarez said, "I wanted him to see it before anybody,”  and everyone gave me the head’s up that Ridley is really tough. He’s really tough, particularly if it has something to do with his movies. Awhile ago when discussing 2017's Blade Runner 2049, Scott told Vulture: “It was fucking way too long. Fuck me. And most of that script’s mine.” Alvarez however, thought it was a masterpiece.

Alverez then asked him about the new ‘Top Gun’ legacy sequel (Maverick) and "he’s like ‘meh.’ I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’ And he was like, ‘My brother’s was original and this is like eh.’ He really respected it, but you could see how tough he was. So I was like, ‘There’s no way I win this one."

So when the time came for Scott's reaction to Romulus, the acclaimed filmmaker walked into the room and he did say, ‘Fede, what can I say? It’s fucking great,’” Áll “For me it was like…  one of the best moments of my life to have a master like him, who I admired so much, to even watch a movie I made but particularly something like this… and talk to me for an hour about what he liked about it. One of the best compliments he said was, ‘The dialogue is great. Are you the writer?’ Yes!“

While it sounds like very encouraging news to Alvarez, I personally have my issues with Scott who comes off like this Gatekeeper of his and late brother Tony Scott's filmography only to butcher the Alien franchise he established by making two less than favorable films, Prometheus and Covenant respectively .

As far as Alien Romulus' plot is concerned, the synopsis consists of a group of young people on a distant world, who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.” I think we've been down this road before.
Originally scheduled for Hulu streaming, this movie is set to be released on August 16, 2024.

So, can you take Ridley Scott's endorsement seriously,  or is your chest bursting with excitement?
